The Tallahassee Bazaar will be open on Friday from 2-6 at Lake Ella, and I am doing a promotion to get people excited! If you come out, you can pick up these cool bracelets I made. Attached to the bracelets are a little piece of paper with my page information. If you can go out and make a friend, take a selfie with that person, and they start following either my Reverb Nation or my Facebook page, then you BOTH get a free download! How awesome is that?

Heyo.
For a while, my music has been taking a more jazzy, acoustic direction, which I like because it gives me the opportunity to do more with my finger picking and instrumentation choice. And it's fun and easier to record! Hah! Anyway, this is Windows and Walls. I've been performing it live here in Tally for a while, and I think it really speaks to my generation...many grads are now experiencing frustration as they enter the job market only to find a great deal of unexpected requirements: Field Experience, Post Doc, more and more volunteer work etc. etc. It's maddening and demoralizing and seems to put us all in more and more debt. So, though I'm not a college grad, I have seen my friends suffer and I wanted to write on that. I mixed a few of my own personal experiences in here as well, and I hope that you appreciate Windows and Walls for what it is: a heart felt perspective on the job market today. It's not so bad here. So this week was awesome, and I've been playing all over town and paying the bills (which is always good, as a musician.) Today was my performance at the Tallahassee Bazaar, which is a budding market at Lake Ella on Fridays. The idea is to have shops and tables all lined up around the lake...everything from artists to farmers to jewelry makers, but since today was the first day, it was very small. That's ok, though! I know it will flourish with the passing of time! That just seems to be how it goes here in Tallahassee, and I'm excited to see it happen, for sure. In other news, I'm filming some tunes as part of the Full Sail Video Production program on Wednesday August 20th! I'm really excited to see how that goes, and will be playing my very best. Fingers crossed I don't make any silly faces! (ok, that's probably a fat chance) Until next! Rachi WOW! These couple of months have been such an adventure. I have been playing at Milano Pizzeria now for over five months, and the collaborations have been EPIC. Artists like DJ Deep Thought, T-Rev, Jacob's Ladder, Chris Dimacali, Nate Louis, Sur Back, have all performed in shows with me, and I have had the honor to start projects like Gentrified Edge and Second Breakfast, both of which you should check out on facebook.
Where is it all going? Well, I am releasing a new EP: all acoustic, lots of interesting instruments like banjo and accordion. I am performing as much as possible all over town. I am doing my best to write songs that represent the youth experience today: Struggles with unemployment, love, loss, homelessness, hopelessness. And most of all, I am trying to make real connections with the people who need a friend, who might take something from my music. Here's my tracklist for my new EP: I'm Glad You Know (Acoustic) You Won't Be Seeing Me Sweet (Acoustic) Water (Transitional Track) Enjoy the Silence Windows and Walls Things I Like It's a concept EP as much as it's a listenable one. It will be seamless. It will be awesome. And I'm already having fun just listening to the demos. So until next... <3 Sunday, December 8th was a good day in the world of Rachi Ru. We performed a full concert with the help of some awesome people (including the very intelligent, talented and attractive Ryan Vinson on keys, J Cruz porivding some playbacks, and JD Varnado and the Lost Lands for working hard to make those playbacks as great as they could be). On top of that, Masao Seki hung around to take some awesome photos, which you can see online at facebook.com/rachirusings.
Was the concert a success? We think so. Great friends came out, drank beer, and enjoyed cake to the sound of electronically modified basslines and my singing voice and (occasionally) bad jokes, What now? House shows and some experimentation with live looping and synth use. Until we see you next...Good day! :rachiru: Wow! What a whirlwind of a few months!
Here's what you gotta know: - Had a great photoshoot with Marcus Duval; he's a fantastic photographer and I'm thankful that he's always interested in trying new projects! - Finished recording Lions and Lambs at EthniKids studio. After listening to most of the mixes, I'm super stoked about our release concer (which lead me to ...) - Decided on the venue for the CD release concert...you'll be hearing me and the Lost Lands (an awesome Tallahassee based band with some of the coolest and nicest guys you'll meet) on December 8th at the American Legion right on Lake Ella in Tallahassee, FL. - Speaking of Lost Lands, I recorded some backing vocals on a track they recorded with EthniKids as well. I look forward to their release this winter as well! - Uploaded some previews for you to check out on soundcloud...send some comments my way! - Working on a cover of Minor Alp's "I don;t Know what to Do with my Hands"...look out for a release in the next couple of months - Working on a self produced music video using photos taken at the beautiful Florida State University, some look out for that release as well! Until next, :rachiru: Lion and the Lamb 1. Animal Instinct

For now, here's a teaser: the audio recording! https://soundcloud.com/rachel-hillman/stay-wooden-sheep-ft-rachi-ru <3 Rachi Hey lovelies!
I've been gone for a while, and I wanted to leave you with a little present...a new song! Crying Lion is the final song in my new album "The Lion and the Lamb" ... a concept album to be released in August that discusses youth and personal growth. The album starts young and reckless, but I wanted to show you the "heart" of what the album is all about. I hope you enjoy it thoroughly, and I can't wait to show you the rest in August! As for other news, recording with Ethnikids begins next Wednesday, and the music video for "Stay" will be released soon after. In it, you'll get to see my new look...Marcus Duval, my amazing friend, photographer, and marketer is working hard to ensure that my image matches my music. To be honest, I'm a little excited myself! I have no idea what he has planned! As for the Majora, I've been trying my best to keep up with it, but I have so many things going on in my life that I need to let that project go. I hope that best for him and Majora, though...he's an INCREDIBLE artist and arranger. Lots of love! https://soundcloud.com/rachel-hillman/crying-lion :Rachi Ru: |
