The Tallahassee Bazaar will be open on Friday from 2-6 at Lake Ella, and I am doing a promotion to get people excited! If you come out, you can pick up these cool bracelets I made. Attached to the bracelets are a little piece of paper with my page information. If you can go out and make a friend, take a selfie with that person, and they start following either my Reverb Nation or my Facebook page, then you BOTH get a free download! How awesome is that? <3 Rachi
Heyo. For a while, my music has been taking a more jazzy, acoustic direction, which I like because it gives me the opportunity to do more with my finger picking and instrumentation choice. And it's fun and easier to record! Hah! Anyway, this is Windows and Walls. I've been performing it live here in Tally for a while, and I think it really speaks to my generation...many grads are now experiencing frustration as they enter the job market only to find a great deal of unexpected requirements: Field Experience, Post Doc, more and more volunteer work etc. etc. It's maddening and demoralizing and seems to put us all in more and more debt. So, though I'm not a college grad, I have seen my friends suffer and I wanted to write on that. I mixed a few of my own personal experiences in here as well, and I hope that you appreciate Windows and Walls for what it is: a heart felt perspective on the job market today. Hey what's up. It's not so bad here. So this week was awesome, and I've been playing all over town and paying the bills (which is always good, as a musician.) Today was my performance at the Tallahassee Bazaar, which is a budding market at Lake Ella on Fridays. The idea is to have shops and tables all lined up around the lake...everything from artists to farmers to jewelry makers, but since today was the first day, it was very small. That's ok, though! I know it will flourish with the passing of time! That just seems to be how it goes here in Tallahassee, and I'm excited to see it happen, for sure. In other news, I'm filming some tunes as part of the Full Sail Video Production program on Wednesday August 20th! I'm really excited to see how that goes, and will be playing my very best. Fingers crossed I don't make any silly faces! (ok, that's probably a fat chance) Until next! Rachi
Hey lovelies! I've been gone for a while, and I wanted to leave you with a little present...a new song!
Crying Lion is the final song in my new album "The Lion and the Lamb" ... a concept album to be released in August that discusses youth and personal growth. The album starts young and reckless, but I wanted to show you the "heart" of what the album is all about. I hope you enjoy it thoroughly, and I can't wait to show you the rest in August!
As for other news, recording with Ethnikids begins next Wednesday, and the music video for "Stay" will be released soon after. In it, you'll get to see my new look...Marcus Duval, my amazing friend, photographer, and marketer is working hard to ensure that my image matches my music. To be honest, I'm a little excited myself! I have no idea what he has planned!
As for the Majora, I've been trying my best to keep up with it, but I have so many things going on in my life that I need to let that project go. I hope that best for him and Majora, though...he's an INCREDIBLE artist and arranger.
Welp, it's official. Tonight I record an audition video and send it off to Miguel Bulteau of the Majora project. He is creating a full scale opera of the love story between Anju and Kafei, characters in the Legend of Zelda game "Majora's Mask." Obviously, I have to try my best to be part of this project. If there was ever a niche for me, it's a freaking video game opera.
Currently, they are looking for a soprano to fill the role of the imp... and the voice of a very high, high soprano that I don't quite possess. Apparently, the opera is not complete, though, and...if I'm lucky...they'll use me for another character. Bulteau is sending me some files this weekend, so let's start with that. :)
As for other fun tidbits; today, I started work on a Majora cover of my own! It's nowhere near completion, but you can find it https://soundcloud.com/rachel-hillman/keep-you-there-demo-loz or through my Music tab. What's to come? Flute parts, more vocals parts, better transitions, more sounds.....lots of fun! Maybe even a video? Let's see what my friend Adriel, a videographer here in Tally, can do about that! :) :)
Not too long ago, I hit up my buddy Parker Robinson, an old classmate and a rockin' DJ, to see if he would be interested in remixing one of my tunes, just for fun. Wellllllll he's releasing it this weekend, and I couldn't be more excited to see what he's put together!
